I just recently wiped out my desktop computer and reinstalled Windows, and I couldn’t be happier. I feel like I just bought a new computer! It’s amazing. Before I did this I made certain that I backed up all my important files. I copied all my documents and photos over to a separate hard drive. I then made an image of my Windows installation just in case on a completely separate hard drive. So everything was double backed. Then I put in the custom image that came with my computer (a CD) and pressed go. It’s something I should have done MONTHS ago but was putting off because it was kind of a project. But actually, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.
I had to buy a new DVD/RW drive because my old one broke. I found one at Best Buy for around $40 with tax. I think my computer is still under warranty and I could have gotten one from Digital Storm, but by the time it got here I would rather just pay the money and get on with my life. I did get a new power supply unit from them a year ago and that was worth it because those are expensive.
I really like the rig I got from Digital Storm, but it’s amazing at the parts failing. I’m glad I backed up my computer now as the hard disks are the next to go I’m sure.
There are a few things that I’m going to make certain to do when setting up this new computer. I’m going to ensure that it’s protected from viruses and malware right from the start. That means that I’m going to install some antivirus software first. My top choice for that is Norton 360, recommended by the folks over at No More Sad Computer. I find that it runs quite quietly in the background while I’m doing other things, and it doesn’t take up too much memory.
For keeping malware off my computer I’m going to use a program called Spyhunter 4. It’s a great way to quickly scan my PC now and then for any baddies that might have jumped on board. This review can tell you all you need to know about Spyhunter 4 and what it can help you with. It’s an excellent program with decent customer service and support.
Anyway, just wanted to share this as it’s like Christmas here in my apartment. I feel so good now that I have gotten that project out of the way!
